Thank you for your prayers!  God continues to answer.  We have had some exciting appointments with professors.  I sat down for the first time with a professor at a major university.  He’s a Christian who was on the staff of a campus parachurch organization for several years.  He said that as a professor, he has much more access to students than he ever did as a campus minister.  He’s been doing creative things to help students think about what is important in life, such as assigning them to write a paper articulating their personal ethics—very challenging! 

Cheryl met with a professor who has chosen to teach at a large, prestigious, secular university so that she can have an influence for Christ on that campus.  I just met another Christian in the same school.  He has a desire to have a more effective witness to his students.  He was excited when I gave him a copy of Ministering in the Secular University, a collection of ideas for having a Gospel influence on campus.  He said that his heart was warmed to know that there were people like me who have a heart and vision to minister to professors like him. 

I just met with a young Christian professor at a nationally-known university.  Remarkably, I remember first seeing him as a high-school senior, doing his senior year at that same university.  Almost 14 years later, here he is.  He and his wife have a vision for ministry in their economically challenged, ethnically mixed neighborhood.  They are active in a church plant in that same neighborhood, which is at the edge of the campus.  As I asked how I could serve him, he expressed an interest in having a more visible witness to his students.  I gave him a copy of Ministering in the Secular University, and he was excited about that.  He’s interested in discussing ideas with other professors who seek to have a Gospel influence on their students. 

I spoke with a professor who meets with some of his former students, who now work on that campus as administrators, to pray!  He referred me to another believing professor in his department.  A professor that Cheryl met with was quoted extensively in an article about Asian American Christian students at UC Berkeley, in the East Bay Express newspaper.  Another professor quoted in the article leads the Christian faculty group on that campus.

In the words of C.S. Lewis, “Aslan is on the move.” (The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe from the Chronicles of Narnia)   What an exciting time to be on campus!  Thank you for being there with us in prayer, in spirit, and helping make it possible for us to be here.

            For God to get each professor to the National Faculty Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C., June 27-29, that He wants there.
